Love picnics or just looking for a nice sandwich with a nice twist? This steak sandwich is your go-to-make-and-eat dish. It is really easy and tastes divine.
Ingredients (Serves 2-4):
1 Large Steak (Sirloin/Fillet/Rump) +/- 500g
white cheddar cheese
1 loaf of olive bread
Method (Takes 20 minutes):
Start by seasoning the steak with salt, black pepper and chilli flakes. Make sure it is covered evenly. Let is sit while heating up oil over medium heat in a sauce pan.
Slice the olive bread into slices of about 1.5cm each and lightly brown in the warm olive oil. Remove from heat and place on kitchen towels.
Heat up fresh oil on medium heat and fry the steak. Do not turn until the side is browned, it should be in about 6 minutes. Turn the steak around and fry the other side for 10 minutes. Depending on how well done you want it, you can keep it longer but medium rare is recommended so it is tender for the sarmies.
spread some of the pesto hummus on the bread slices and layer two baby spinach leaves with some cheese. Slice the steak into 1cm slices and put on the bread slices. Close of the sarmies and serve with a mojito! Perfect for Summer days or with a glass of Shiraz in the winter. 🙂 Enjoy
