These french fries with a twist are lower in carbs than your conventional fries and packed with flavour. The cinnamon complements the sweetness of the sweet potato and the chillies add a nice zest, omit the chillies if making for kids or if you are not a fan of spicy food.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
2 large sweet potatoes
4 table spoons extra virgin olive oil
2 table spoons dried chillie flakes OR 1 table spoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Cut the sweet potato into half and then cut each half into about 1 cm slices then slice into rectangular pieces.
Arrange the pieces in a glass oven dish. drizzle with the olive oil, chilli flakes and cinnamon. Using your hands, mix it all so all the pieces are thoroughly coated.
Heat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius and bake the chips for 25 minutes. Grill the chips for five minutes, mixing until grilled to your perfection.
Enjoy on their own or as an accompaniment to a fresh piece of fish!
